JOHN TUMUSIIME - Reach Within to Embrace Humanity," - RY 2011-12
Dedicated Psychiatric Nurse | Mental Health Advocate | Rotarian
Guided by his Rotary Year Theme, John Tumusiime has spent his life reaching within himself to serve others, both in the field of mental health and through Rotary. With over 15 years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse, he currently serves at Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital, where he provides compassionate care to individuals facing mental health challenges. His commitment to improving lives extends beyond the hospital walls—he is the founder of Lifeline Health Services Limited, a mental health consulting firm dedicated to shaping policies and improving mental health practices across Uganda. Through his work, John not only treats patients but also seeks to create a society where mental health is prioritized and supported.
John’s passion for service is deeply rooted in his Rotary journey. Since joining Rotaract in 2006, he has actively led and mentored young professionals, serving as President of the Rotaract Club of Butabika in 2007/08 and the Rotaract Club of Kampala Central in 2011/12. His presidency was marked by a strong focus on leadership development, service, and creating lasting connections. It was during this time that he initiated the discussion that led to the formation of Rotaract East Africa Impact (REACT), a vision born from a district conference in Nairobi. His goal was to strengthen Rotaract leadership and foster unity among young leaders across East Africa, embodying the spirit of "Reaching Within to Embrace Humanity."
Currently serving as the Youth Service Director of the Rotary Club of Kampala Central, John remains dedicated to inspiring young Rotaractors to transition into Rotary, bridging the gap between youth and seasoned professionals. A self-driven, creative, and innovative leader, he continues to embrace humanity by advocating for mental health, nurturing future leaders, and uplifting communities through service.
