1. Outstanding Club Project: Ebenezer Children's Rehabilitation Centre Project - Phase 3
During my presidency, the Rotaract Club of Kampala Central undertook impactful projects aimed at transforming communities. One of the most outstanding was our initiative at Bombo Heritage Children’s Center, where we distributed clothing, planted 100 fruit trees, provided benches, and installed a 5,000-litre water tank ensuring sustainable access to clean water. We also launched medical and annual dental camps, treating over 500 people for ailments such as malaria, flu, cough, and infections. Additionally, we mentored students on personal hygiene and wellness, empowering them with essential life skills.
Beyond service, the club fostered fun and engaging fellowships, with a major highlight being the honor of hosting Dr. Kizza Besigye in one of our sessions.
As my leadership journey progressed, I spearheaded the Ebenezer Children’s Rehabilitation Centre Project, an initiative dedicated to improving the welfare of vulnerable children under Mission for All (MIFA). This project, now in its fourth edition, has become a testament to the club’s unwavering commitment to service above self, leaving a lasting impact on the communities we served.

Key Achievements of the Project:
- Provision of water purifiers and water Tank: Ensured consistent access to safe and clean drinking water for the children and staff.
- Provision of a Grain Silo: Tackled food wastage and contamination by offering a safe storage solution.
- Scholastic Materials & Sanitary Pads: Ensured children had the necessary educational supplies and sanitary provisions, promoting both academic success and dignity for young girls.
- Tree Planting Initiative: Contributed to environmental sustainability by planting 500 tree seedlings, reducing the impact of climate change in the community.

Impact:
- Over 150 children directly benefited from improved living conditions, educational resources, and hygiene facilities.
- The club’s strong collaboration with sponsors such as Environmental Social Safeguards International (ESSI) and AFRIPADS ensured long-term sustainability of the project.
- Enhanced community participation and awareness, engaging volunteers in mentorship and hands-on activities like tree planting, hygiene talks, and sports with the children.
- This project showcased the power of collaboration, leadership, and long-term impact, making it a defining milestone during your tenure.

2. What the Presidency Meant to You
- Serving as the President of Rotaract Kampala Central was a transformative experience, marked by both personal and collective growth. This leadership role provided a platform to influence lives positively, drive meaningful projects, and foster team spirit among club members.
Key Reflections:
- A Responsibility Beyond Service: The role was not just about managing a club but about inspiring, mobilizing, and setting a vision that encouraged every member to contribute meaningfully to society.
- The Power of Networks & Collaboration: Partnering with organizations like MIFA, AFRIPADS, and ESSI reinforced the importance of leveraging partnerships to maximize impact.
- Resilience & Adaptability: Leading a service organization, especially during challenging moments, required adaptability, problem-solving, and keeping members motivated.
- Empowerment Through Service: Seeing the smiles on the children at Ebenezer and the tangible impact of the projects reinforced a deep personal commitment to service above self.
- The presidency was not just a title but a journey of personal and collective impact, shaping leadership skills and deepening the passion for humanitarian work.

3. Important Lessons Learned
1. Leadership is About People, Not Position
True leadership is about inspiring and empowering others. Whether engaging with club members, community beneficiaries, or partners, the greatest success came from building trust, collaboration, and a shared vision.
2. Impact is More Than Just Numbers
While metrics like the number of trees planted or sanitary pads distributed are important, the real measure of success was the smiles on children’s faces, the restored dignity of young girls, and the improved quality of life for vulnerable families.
3. Service Requires Sustainability
A key takeaway was the need to ensure projects go beyond one-time interventions. By engaging multiple stakeholders, focusing on long-term solutions (like the grain silo and incinerator), and empowering communities, the club’s impact remained long-lasting.
4. Challenges Are Opportunities for Growth
Whether it was fundraising constraints, mobilizing volunteers, or coordinating partnerships, every challenge presented an opportunity to innovate, strategize, and become a stronger leader.
5. Rotary’s Core Values Are Life-Changing
Living by the Four-Way Test and Rotary's values of service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership became guiding principles not just for the presidency but for life beyond Rotaract.
