Charles Sevume
During the 2018–19 Rotaract year themed “Be the Inspiration”, Charles served under the leadership of DRR Augustine Mwombeki and ADRR Sarah Owembabazi, contributing to efforts focused on enhancing the Rotaract image, strengthening membership development and retention, and promoting impactful service projects. As part of a 23 – member club, with two serving as ADRRs and active representation of members in RYLA, Rotaract Ladies at Work, and DCA committees, the club prioritized professional development and leadership while maintaining its long – standing Heritage Bombo Project. This initiative targeted orphaned and vulnerable children, including those formerly street-connected, through comprehensive classroom renovations, medical camps, maternal and dental health outreach, tree planting, and education support. Contributions included learning materials, food, and clothing—mobilized collaboratively by members, Rotarians, partners, and friends.
The club also implemented the Youth Entrepreneurship Project (YEP), a standout vocational skills program that offered monthly training sessions in crafts and entrepreneurship. Conducted in partnership with Telesat International and supported by Rotarian Anne Munywevu, YEP empowered community members from Lusaka Church of Uganda and Rotaractors alike, culminating in certificate awards and improved livelihood opportunities. Charles, beyond his volunteer leadership, he is a father of 2 and a highly driven humanitarian and development professional with over 13 years of experience across program design, implementation, and strategic leadership at organizations including UNICEF, Save the Children, ACDI, and most
